PSA Extends Turnaround Times Amid Regular Service Surge

PSA has updated its estimated turnaround times again, citing increased demand at the Regular Service level. The company said there are no immediate shutdowns, but collectors should expect longer waits as PSA continues working through its backlog.

The latest update follows PSA's earlier decision to shut down its Value and Bulk tiers in early June. Since then, PSA has been posting bi-weekly backlog updates with a tracker, and those lower-cost tiers are expected to reopen once the backlog drops to 5 million cards. PSA said the backlog was roughly 12 million cards when those tiers were paused.

What PSA Told Collectors

In a message to customers, PSA said it is updating estimated turnaround times for the Regular Service level to provide a more accurate view of timing while it works through the current backlog.

PSA said the updated estimates apply to orders that have not yet completed grading, and the company apologized for the additional wait while thanking collectors for their patience.

Updated PSA Turnaround Times

PSA did not change pricing with this update, but several service levels now carry longer estimated waits.

  • Regular Service: 30-40 Business Days to 70-80 Business Days
  • Express: No change
  • Super Express: 7-10 Business Days to 10-15 Business Days
  • Walk-Through: 5-7 Business Days to 7-10 Business Days

Current pricing and insured values

  • Regular Service: $79.99 per card, max insured value of $1,500
  • Express: $149.99 per card, max insured value of $2,500
  • Super Express: $349.99 per card, max insured value of $5,000
  • Walk-Through: $599.99 per card, max insured value of $10,000

PSA said the new turnaround times apply to anyone whose cards have been submitted and have not yet moved past the grading stage, as well as future orders.

Grading Demand Continues To Pressure The Industry

The latest PSA update reflects a broader issue across the grading market. Companies have been extending turnaround times, pausing lower-cost tiers, or raising prices as demand continues to climb.

One major factor has been the surge in Pokémon and other trading card game submissions. That wave of TCG volume has put heavy pressure on grading operations and, in many cases, has outpaced the sports card side of the business.

PSA's backlog and service changes have become part of a larger pattern seen throughout the hobby. As demand remains strong, grading companies have been forced to adjust service levels to keep up with incoming submissions.

That pressure was also visible at The National, where PSA had to stop accepting all but its top tiers after Wednesday. Other grading companies reportedly saw similarly busy weeks during the event, underscoring how strong the appetite for grading remains across the hobby.

For collectors waiting on PSA submissions, the key takeaway is simple: the company is still accepting cards at its current levels, but the wait for Regular Service, Super Express and Walk-Through has grown longer.
