PSA Reorganizes Grading Service Levels
PSA is making a major change to its grading lineup as its active backlog continues to move lower. The company said its backlog is now down to 9.9 million cards and announced a full reorganization of its service tiers, including new names, updated pricing, and revised turnaround times.
The changes begin September 14, 2026, with a new Standard Service Tier. PSA said the move is part of a phased plan to restore additional service levels while keeping customer experience, price, and turnaround speed in focus.
PSA also confirmed that a new facility in Frankfurt, Germany, will open the following day, giving collectors in Europe the ability to submit directly to PSA for local grading.
New Standard Service Tier Starts September 14
The new Standard Service Tier will cost $59.99 and carry an estimated turnaround time of 90 to 100 business days. PSA said the maximum insured value for the tier will be $1,000.
According to PSA, Standard Service is not replacing the Value tiers. Those tiers will remain paused for now. PSA said Standard Service will be processed after existing Value and Bulk orders.
PSA described the launch as a first step toward bringing back additional service levels in stages. The company said reopening tiers gradually should help avoid future submission spikes that could create long delays or push the backlog beyond current capacity.
Updated PSA Service Tier Names And Pricing
PSA is also renaming several existing service levels as part of the reorganization. The company said the changes are designed to better align pricing and turnaround expectations across its grading options.
- Priority Service will be the new name for the former Regular Service level. PSA lists it at $79.00 with an estimated 70 to 80 business-day turnaround time and a maximum insured value of $1,500 per card.
- Express Service will keep its 20 to 30 business-day turnaround time, but the price will increase to $199.
- Super Express remains unchanged.
- Walk-Through Service will become Premier Level, priced at $599 per card with an estimated 7 to 10 business-day turnaround time and a $10,000 maximum insured value.
- Premium levels will begin at $999 with a 5 to 7 business-day turnaround time.
PSA said the new structure reflects increased demand for higher-level service as other tiers have paused. The company noted that its teams have been handling record throughput while maintaining grading standards.

Value Tiers Stay Paused For Now
Even with the new Standard tier, PSA said its Value tiers will remain paused until the backlog falls to 5 million cards. The company said it will continue reopening service levels in phases and will use demand forecasting to help avoid another large submission surge.
That approach is meant to balance volume with turnaround times and keep the backlog from growing beyond what PSA can manage. The company said the current backlog reduction gives it room to begin restoring service options, but not all tiers will return at once.
PSA Opens New Frankfurt, Germany Facility
PSA’s European expansion becomes official on September 15, 2026, when submissions open at 12:01 a.m. Central European Time at the company’s new Frankfurt, Germany facility. The center will allow collectors across Europe to submit directly to PSA without having to manage international shipping to the United States.
PSA said the Frankfurt location will offer all globally available service levels across cards, autographed cards, tickets, and packs. The company said the new site is intended to reduce shipping time, cost, and delays for European customers.
Matthias Peuckert, Managing Director of PSA Europe, said the Frankfurt opening will give collectors in Europe faster access to PSA services and more confidence when submitting items for authentication and grading.
The new facility follows a recent Texas opening and is part of the company’s broader effort to expand capacity. PSA said both moves are supported by the $200 million infrastructure investment announced in May.
What Collectors Should Watch Next
With the backlog now under 10 million cards, PSA appears to be entering a new phase of service restoration. The September 14 Standard tier launch and the September 15 Frankfurt opening are the clearest signs yet that the company is working through its backlog while rebuilding access to grading.
Collectors who have been waiting for additional PSA options will want to monitor future tier announcements, especially as the company continues to reopen services in stages. For now, the biggest changes are the new Standard tier, the renamed service levels, and the arrival of PSA Europe in Frankfurt.
