Messi Sets New Topps NOW Sales Record
Lionel Messi has added another milestone to his career, this time in the trading card market. The Lionel Messi-2026 Argentina Topps NOW Final Farewell Pack finished with a final print run of 664,325, making it the best-selling Topps NOW release ever.
The total pushed past the previous record of 653,737, which belonged to Shohei Ohtani's 50/50 milestone card. It also topped the Olympic basketball card featuring LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant, which reached 588,030.
For Topps, the result did more than set a sales mark. It also triggered a milestone that had never been reached before in the Topps NOW Chrome parallel program: the first-ever 1/1 White OpalFractor Chrome card.
How the Final Farewell Pack Works
The Lionel Messi-2026 Argentina Topps NOW Final Farewell Pack includes two cards. The pack contains a Farewell base card, parallel or autograph, along with a variation or short print.

Collectors also had the chance to chase four different 1/1 Messi autographs. The release was built around Messi's Argentina farewell moment, giving the product a direct connection to one of the most significant players in international football.
What the Print Run Unlocked
Topps NOW Chrome parallels are tied to print-run milestones, with each threshold opening new chase options for collectors. At 50,000, Chrome parallels numbered to 99 and 50 become available. At 100,000, additional parallels and a 1/1 Superfractor are unlocked. At 250,000, Opal Chrome parallels are added.
The highest milestone sits at 500,000, and that level unlocks a single 1/1 White OpalFractor Chrome card. Messi's Final Farewell Pack cleared that mark by more than 164,000 copies, making it the first release to ever reach the White OpalFractor tier.
