Upper Deck celebrates 30 years of Space Jam
Upper Deck is marking the 30th anniversary of Space Jam with a wide-ranging promotion that includes trading cards, memorabilia, a NASCAR racecar, and a Chicago watch party.
The company is working with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products and NASCAR's 23XI Racing on the campaign, which will put a Space Jam-themed design on the No. 23 Toyota driven by Bubba Wallace at Chicagoland Speedway on July 5.
23XI Racing is co-owned by Michael Jordan, who starred in Space Jam and remains central to the movie's legacy for collectors and fans alike.
Space Jam cards debut on Upper Deck e-Pack
Upper Deck has already begun rolling out the first pieces of the promotion through its 2026 23XI x Space Jam Crossover trading cards on the e-Pack platform. The first card is available now through July 2.
A second trading card featuring Wallace in his Upper Deck Space Jam helmet and fire suit will be available from July 2-9. Upper Deck says parallels and autographed Wallace cards will also be part of the release.
The crossover cards are part of a broader lineup that ties the movie's anniversary to Upper Deck's trading card and memorabilia brands.
Curated prints and Upper Deck Authenticated items
The promotion also introduces Upper Deck's new Curated brand with prints from the original Space Jam film. Upper Deck described Curated as licensed prints, and the Space Jam project serves as the debut for the line.
Upper Deck Authenticated is adding a limited-edition Lionel diecast car set against a Space Jam background image signed by Wallace. The company is also offering a range of Space Jam memorabilia signed by Jordan.
Jordan-signed memorabilia in the collection
- A reinvented The Show piece featuring new 5D technology
- A Jam Time collage of imagery from the film
- Jordan Space Jam prints
- Signed Air Jordan shoes, including the Space Jam Air Jordan 11, Hare Air Jordan 7, Bugs Bunny Air Jordan 8, and Space Jam Air Jordan 9
Skybox Metal Universe Space Jam 30th Anniversary set coming later this year
Upper Deck also confirmed a Skybox Metal Universe Space Jam 30th Anniversary card set for later this year. The company says the set will include Precious Metal Gems cards featuring characters from the movie, including Jordan and Looney Tunes characters.
Collectors will also find a special short-print insert that highlights Jordan's memorable halfcourt dunk scene from the film. Autographed cards are planned as well, including signatures from Jordan and voice actors from the movie.
Upper Deck has not yet released full checklist details for the set, but the company has made clear that the anniversary release will lean heavily into the film's most recognizable imagery and characters.
Upper Deck and 23XI Racing bring Space Jam to Chicagoland
The racecar reveal is one of the most visible parts of the promotion. Upper Deck says the Space Jam-themed No. 23 Toyota will appear at Chicagoland Speedway on July 5, giving the anniversary campaign a public showcase beyond the trading card market.
Steve Lauletta, president of 23XI Racing, said the collaboration is designed to bring the fun and nostalgia of Space Jam to the track while extending the reach of 23XI to both current and new audiences.
Upper Deck President Jason Masherah said the project combines the cultural impact of Space Jam, the energy of NASCAR, and the passion of collectors. He called the promotion a celebration of fandom and said the company wants to capture what fans love most about the film across its brands.
Chicago watch party adds another anniversary event
Upper Deck will also host a Space Jam 30th Anniversary Watch Party at Navy Pier in Chicago on July 2. The event adds another live component to the promotion as the company builds toward the racecar appearance and the later card releases.
With trading cards, signed memorabilia, licensed prints, and a themed NASCAR entry all tied to the same anniversary, Upper Deck is giving collectors multiple ways to connect with one of the most recognizable sports and pop culture crossover films of the 1990s.
