Dual Fusion expansion set for October 28

The next Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket expansion, Dual Fusion, is scheduled to launch on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. PDT. The set introduces powerful dual-type Pokémon, led by Psychic- and Fighting-type Mega Mewtwo X ex and Water- and Darkness-type Mega Greninja ex.

The expansion is positioned as a major update for the mobile game, with new cards arriving alongside a slate of gameplay changes, events, and limited-time rewards. The Pokémon Company International says more details on the broader updates can be found in the October 2026 Producer Letter.

Dual-type Pokémon headline the new release

Dual Fusion puts the focus on dual-type Pokémon, giving players new options for deck building and battle strategy. The two featured cards named in the announcement are Mega Mewtwo X ex and Mega Greninja ex, both of which anchor the expansion’s theme of combining types for stronger tactical flexibility.

The release also highlights the idea that two can be better than one, with the expansion built around pairing types and exploring new strategies in Pokémon TCG Pocket.

New covers and backdrops featuring Mega Greninja

Players will also be able to show off their new cards with covers and backdrops featuring Mega Greninja. These cosmetics become available starting Saturday, October 31.

The announcement does not provide additional details on how these items will be obtained, but it confirms the date they will join the game.

Rental decks available after launch

Beginning with the release of Dual Fusion and running until December 15, 2026, at 5:59 p.m. PST, six Dual Fusion rental decks will be available. According to the announcement, these decks will give players a chance to test out different strategies, including dual-type builds centered on Mega Mewtwo X ex and Mega Greninja ex.

When the next booster pack is released, these rental decks will be replaced with new rental decks.

Elite deck gift includes Mega Rayquaza ex

A new elite deck will also be sent to players’ Gifts. This Dragon-type deck includes Mega Rayquaza ex and Dragonair, both of which appeared in Ruler of the Skies, along with Gouging Fire from Paradox Drive.

The announcement specifically notes Mega Rayquaza ex’s Mega Burst attack as a key part of the deck’s offensive power.

Second anniversary campaign offers guaranteed ★★ card pack

Pokémon TCG Pocket’s second anniversary celebration campaign runs from October 29, 2026, through December 14, 2026. During that period, players will receive a ticket that can be exchanged for a booster pack guaranteed to include a ★★ card.

The anniversary campaign is one of several late-fall and early-winter events tied to the Dual Fusion release window.

Promo reissues, missions, and battle events

The event schedule attached to Dual Fusion includes a wide range of limited-time activities, from promo card opportunities to battle-based rewards and mission tracks. Several of these events overlap, giving players multiple ways to earn items and cards over the coming weeks.

This event lets players earn emblems based on the number of battles won against other players. Battle rally missions will also offer pack hourglasses, shinedust, and other rewards.

Bonus Week

During Bonus Week, missions will reward a booster pack for logging in every day.

Promo Pack C Series Vol. 1

November 17, 2026, through December 1, 2026

Players can complete daily missions and take part in battle events to earn promo packs. The announcement says promo packs can be obtained from random battles and Dual Fusion limited battles, which use specific deck-building rules.

Over three weeks, three types of promo cards tied to a specific theme will be available. New missions will be added each week to unlock them.

Ranked Match Season C1 will challenge players to battle opponents from around the world. Wins earn rank points, and players will receive an emblem based on their final rank at the end of the season.

Community Week

Community Week will allow players to trade and share cards in exchange for trade hourglasses, pack hourglasses, and other rewards.
