Holme & Hadfield Brings Premium Display Design to Sports Cards

Holme & Hadfield is moving into sports cards and trading card games with The Trade Deck, a handcrafted tabletop display built specifically for collectors who want to keep favorite cards visible instead of tucked away in storage.

The company, founded by longtime friends Ian Holme and Phil Hadfield, has spent the past six years creating premium display products for watches, knives, coins, pens, and other collectibles. After serving more than 150,000 customers, the brand is now applying that same approach to a hobby where individual cards can carry both financial and personal value.

Hadfield said the company sees a major opportunity in the category because collectors have long needed a display product that matches the importance of the cards themselves. The Trade Deck is the company’s first product designed specifically for sports cards and TCG.

What The Trade Deck Offers

The Trade Deck is priced at $395 and is built as a premium display piece rather than a basic storage solution. It is handcrafted from wood and metal hardware and weighs more than 15 pounds, giving it the feel of display furniture instead of a typical card accessory.

The top section holds seven cards on a raised display stage under a cover that blocks 99.7% of UV rays. Below that, a drawer stores another 22 cards. The storage trays underneath are sized for PSA slabs.

The display is designed to accommodate a mix of card formats. Holme & Hadfield says the top section can hold slabs from PSA, BGS, CGC, and SGC, along with raw cards in toploaders and magnetic holders.

The Trade Deck also includes a lifetime warranty.

Why Holme & Hadfield Entered the Card Market

The company says the move into sports cards came after it saw a familiar problem across other collecting categories. Collectors often spend significant money building collections, grading cards, and protecting them, but many of those items end up hidden in boxes, drawers, safes, or vaults.

That disconnect between ownership and visibility is what Holme & Hadfield believes its products can solve. Hadfield said the company’s earlier success came from helping collectors enjoy the items they already owned more often, rather than keeping them out of sight.

At the National Sports Collectors Convention, the founders saw the scale of the hobby firsthand and noticed how many collections were not being displayed in a way that matched their importance to the owner. That experience helped push the company toward a card-specific product.

Hadfield has said the demand is there and the product category was missing a premium option built for the hobby.

Feedback From More Than 550 Collectors Shaped the Design

Before launching The Trade Deck, Holme & Hadfield surveyed more than 550 card collectors. According to the company, 94% said they were not satisfied with how they were storing or displaying their collections.

The feedback also showed that collectors were not necessarily looking for a way to show off an entire collection. Instead, many wanted a better way to highlight a smaller group of favorites. That insight helped shape the seven-card display on top of The Trade Deck.

The lower storage area gives collectors room to keep 22 additional cards close at hand, making it easier to rotate the display as interests change or as new cards are added to a collection.

Holme & Hadfield says the product was developed with input from the collecting community and built to reflect how collectors actually use and enjoy their cards.

How Collectors May Use the Display

The seven cards on top do not have to be the most valuable cards in a collection. Holme & Hadfield says collectors may choose cards based on favorite athletes, characters, themes, or personal connections.

That approach fits the company’s broader view of collecting, where the story behind an item can matter as much as the market value. The Trade Deck is meant to give those cards a visible place in the home or office instead of leaving them stored away.

For collectors who rotate displays, the design makes it possible to keep a small selection on view while storing additional slabs in the trays below. The company sees that flexibility as a key part of the product’s appeal.

More Card Display Products Could Follow

The Trade Deck may not be Holme & Hadfield’s only entry into the category. The company is already exploring wall-mounted card displays and premium options that could eventually include lighting and additional security features.

For now, The Trade Deck marks the brand’s first dedicated step into sports cards and trading card games. With its premium materials, UV protection, slab-friendly storage, and room for both display and rotation, the product is aimed at collectors who want their cards to be part of the room, not hidden away in storage.

Holme & Hadfield’s bet is simple: collectors already spend time deciding which cards belong in their collections. The company believes more of them will want to decide which cards deserve to be on display.
