Collectors building the 400-card base set in 2026 Topps Flagship Football will have plenty of extra targets to chase. Topps has added seven different variations to the product, giving the release a wide range of alternate looks, photo treatments, and short-printed parallels.

Vintage Stock Variations bring a retro feel to 2026 Topps Flagship Football. Printed on different stock than the base cards, they are designed to look like they belong to another era. True Photo Variations put the image front and center. These cards remove nearly all of the standard base design, leaving an extended photo treatment that makes the card feel more like a mini poster than a traditional football card.

The only design elements that remain are the Topps logo, RC badge, Topps All-Rookie emblem, and transaction notes where applicable. Borders, the imitation jersey design, the nameplate, team logo, and other base elements are removed so the photo can carry the entire card.

Player Number Variations Spotlight Jersey Numbers

Player Number Variations are built around a simple idea that should resonate with collectors who pay close attention to jersey numbers. The player’s number runs through the card border, repeated dozens of times as part of the design.

This variation is exclusive to hobby boxes and is much harder to hit than the more common short prints. Topps lists the pull rate at 1:1,966 packs. The checklist again includes 100 veterans and 100 rookies.

Team Color Border Variations Offer a Cleaner Team Look

Team Color Border Variations keep the jersey-style base design but shift the border treatment to highlight the player’s team identity. The team logo and team color run down the full right border and extend across a little more than half of the top and bottom borders. The remaining border portion uses an opposite team color.

These cards should be popular with team collectors because they keep the base look while giving the card a more focused team-specific presentation. Clear Variations Return on Acetate

Clear Variations bring acetate into the football lineup. Printed on clear material, these see-through cards have a limited print run of /10, which makes them one of the rarest variation types in the product.

The acetate construction also changes the back design. Because the card is see-through, the reverse side uses a mirrored version of nearly everything on the front, along with additional details only found on the back.

Collectors can only find Clear Variations in hobby boxes, and Topps lists the pull rate at 1:3,931 packs.

1957 Topps Rookies Variations Honor an Iconic Design

The 1957 Topps Rookies Variations pay tribute to the second Topps flagship set, the one that included rookie cards of Hall of Famers Johnny Unitas and Bart Starr. Topps says this is the only time the featured players will appear on this iconic design during their careers.

Only 50 rookies are included in this short-printed concept, and the cards can be found in all box types. The checklist is built around select rookies rather than the full base set, making this one of the most limited rookie-focused chases in the product.
