Big-money auction week puts Shohei Ohtani at the top

This week delivered one of the largest clusters of sports card sales seen all year, with the bulk of the biggest results coming from Fanatics Premier auctions held over the past week. The list included modern stars, historic vintage icons, and several headline-grabbing one-of-one cards that drew major attention across the hobby.

At the top of the weekly countdown was a Shohei Ohtani card that sold for $3.24 million, making it the 11th most expensive sports card sold in 2026 so far. The result also marked the third-biggest sale of an Ohtani card in 2026 and the third-highest sale of an Ohtani card of all time.

No. 5 - Cooper Flagg Superfractor Auto reaches $750,000

The week’s fifth-highest sale was a 2025 Topps Chrome Update Superfractor Auto 1/1 Cooper Flagg PSA 8, which sold for $750,000 on Oct. 23, 2026 through Fanatics Premier.

While the price was lower than the other major sales on the list, it still represented a significant result for the young star’s market. The card’s one-of-one Superfractor status and autograph combination made it one of the most notable modern basketball-related sales in the auction run.

No. 4 - Judge and Ohtani dual Logoman auto sells for $1.23 million

Coming in at No. 4 was a 2026 Topps Chrome Dual MVP Gold Logoman Auto 1/1 featuring Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani. The card sold for $1.23 million on Oct. 23, 2026 through Fanatics Premier.

The card pairs two of baseball’s biggest stars on a single one-of-one issue and includes game-worn logos from both players. It is also signed by both Judge and Ohtani, adding another layer of appeal to an already elite modern baseball card.

No. 3 - Honus Wagner T206 remains one of the hobby’s biggest names

The third-largest sale of the week was a 1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal Honus Wagner 150/25 PSA Authentic (Restored), which sold for $1.98 million on Oct. 24, 2026 through Heritage Auctions.

The Honus Wagner T206 remains one of the most iconic cards in the hobby and has long been considered a grail-level collectible. Even in restored form, the card continues to command enormous interest at auction, and this latest result shows the enduring strength of the Wagner market.

No. 2 - Cooper Flagg redemption ticket brings $2.16 million

The week’s second-biggest sale was a 2025 Topps Motif Logoman Auto 1/1 Cooper Flagg unscratched redemption, which sold for $2.16 million on Oct. 23, 2026 through Fanatics Premier.

This sale is notable because it was for a redemption ticket rather than the finished card itself. According to the available auction information, the image used in the listing was for reference, and the actual card would likely differ from the pictured item once redeemed.

The result still placed the item among the most expensive sports cards sold in 2026, landing as the 21st most expensive sports card sold during the year at the time of the report.

No. 1 - Shohei Ohtani card sells for $3.24 million

The top sale of the week was a 2025 Topps MLB MVP The Game Dynasty Black Auto Patch 1/1 Shohei Ohtani PSA 9, which sold for $3.24 million on Oct. 23, 2026 through Fanatics Premier.

The card features a game-worn logoman patch that was worn by Ohtani during NLCS Game 4 in 2025. In that game, Ohtani struck out 10 batters and hit three home runs to help his team reach the World Series, adding a major historical layer to the card’s appeal.

The sale made the card the 11th most expensive sports card sold in 2026 so far and one of the most significant Ohtani results ever recorded. For a modern baseball card to reach that level, especially one tied directly to a specific postseason performance, underscores just how strong the top end of the market remains.

A week defined by elite modern stars and vintage icons

The top five featured a mix that reflected the current state of the hobby: high-end modern one-of-ones, a historic vintage grail, and auction results that pushed several cards into rarefied territory. Fanatics Premier accounted for four of the five sales, while Heritage Auctions delivered the Honus Wagner result that kept the vintage market in the conversation.

Cooper Flagg appeared twice on the list, once with a sold Superfractor Auto and once with a redemption ticket tied to a Logoman Auto card. Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani also shared the spotlight on a dual autograph Logoman card that crossed seven figures, while Ohtani’s solo card finished the week as the clear leader.

With major auction results continuing to surface, the upper end of the sports card market remains active across both modern and vintage categories. This week’s sales offered another reminder that the hobby’s most desirable cards can still produce headline-making numbers when the right pieces reach the block.
