SCN Challenge Week 4 Brings Clear Separation
The SCN Challenge is moving out of the early-season scramble and into a more defined race. With four weeks in the books, the season-long competition that blends fantasy football and card collecting is starting to show real separation at the top of the standings.
The format has content creators, football fans and card collectors building portfolios through the Super Bowl, and the first month has already produced sharp swings. As waiver moves begin to settle in, a few cards are making major gains while others are dragging their managers down.
After Week 4, Trent has opened up a sizable lead. His portfolio has been boosted by several strong performers, led by a Tyler Shough Panini Prizm Silver Auto in PSA 9 that is up 60% so far this season.
Trent discussed his approach on the SCN Challenge Show this week, where he pointed to a strategy centered on Panini Prizm Silver Autos. That approach has worked well so far as players have performed on the field, and rookie autos in PSA 9 condition have proven to be a productive lane for managers who targeted them early.
Peyton Manning Delivers the Biggest Gain So Far
Jason Otero owns the competition's biggest riser to date. His Peyton Manning Metal Universe PSA 9 pick has climbed an incredible 257% since the challenge began, according to Card Ladder.
That surge has made Manning one of the standout cards in the competition through the first month. The gain is even more notable because it has helped offset a difficult start for another key card in Otero's portfolio.
His Matt Stafford 2009 Topps Finest PSA 10 has struggled in the early part of the season, mirroring the uneven start for the Rams quarterback. Without that decline, Otero would be even further ahead of the field.
Patrick Mahomes Moves Back Into the Spotlight
The podium also includes a familiar name. Patrick Mahomes has become a central talking point in the competition again after another waiver-related issue was sorted out this week.

The card in question is a 2025 Topps Chrome Patrick Mahomes Blue Wave /150 in PSA 10. Last week, the card was part of a replacement decision involving a 2023 Panini Prizm Jaxson Smith-Njigba Green Scope Auto /75 in PSA 9. A PSA 9 had sold for a similar price to the most recent PSA 9, and an error led to the wrong grade being assigned in the swap.
After review, the PSA 10 was restored, putting the Mahomes card back where it was supposed to be. That mattered, because the Blue Wave PSA 10 then saw a major sale after Sunday’s game.
Mahomes has become one of the most important cards in the standings because even small grading and sale differences can swing the competition. In a format where every portfolio move matters, the right Mahomes card can change the leaderboard quickly.
Joe Burrow Slides Despite Strong Play
Not every portfolio has been helped by on-field production. One of the more frustrating examples comes from the Joe Burrow Optic Blue Hyper PSA, which has dropped from roughly $70 in profit to about $40 in the red in just one week.
That decline has come despite Burrow playing well while working without his top two receivers. It is another reminder that card values in the SCN Challenge can move in ways that do not always match box score production.
For managers near the top, that kind of volatility can be the difference between building a lead and watching it disappear. For those near the bottom, it can make the climb back even harder.
Who Needs a Big Week 5
Several managers now enter Week 5 with clear cards to watch. Mike Gioseffi has already moved off his Kyler Murray 2019 Select Silver PSA 10, but the new piece in his portfolio, a Puka Nacua card, will need a strong jump to help make up ground after a few other cards have lagged.
At the other end of the board, Matt Stafford remains the most problematic name across multiple portfolios. The three managers still holding Stafford are all in the red, with one down as much as 15%. A strong week from Stafford would help stabilize those collections and could also provide a boost to the bottom of the standings.
With the season still early, the leaderboard remains fluid, but the first month has already shown how quickly a single card can reshape the race. Between Mahomes, Manning, Shough, Burrow and Stafford, the SCN Challenge is giving collectors plenty to watch as the portfolios continue to evolve.
Week 4 Standout Moves
- Trent leads the field after four weeks, powered in part by a Tyler Shough Panini Prizm Silver Auto in PSA 9 that is up 60%.
- Jason Otero holds the competition's biggest riser so far with a Peyton Manning Metal Universe PSA 9, up 257% since the challenge began.
- Matt Stafford 2009 Topps Finest PSA 10 has been a major drag on Otero's portfolio.
- The Patrick Mahomes 2025 Topps Chrome Blue Wave /150 in PSA 10 returned to its correct spot after a grading mix-up.
- Joe Burrow Optic Blue Hyper PSA has fallen from about $70 in profit to about $40 in the hole in one week.
- Mike Gioseffi's former Kyler Murray 2019 Select Silver PSA 10 has been replaced by a Puka Nacua card that needs a stronger week.
The next few weeks should reveal whether the early leaders can keep their edge or whether a new run of gains will tighten the race again.
