Jahmyr Gibbs and Bijan Robinson are turning the running back debate into a card market story
Football fans have argued about running backs for generations, and the latest version of that debate now centers on Jahmyr Gibbs and Bijan Robinson. The two entered the NFL four picks apart in the 2023 draft and have quickly become two of the league’s most explosive offensive weapons.
They also have become increasingly popular with football card collectors. Recent eBay sales show strong demand for both players, even if their cards still appear to be building momentum rather than hitting a full-blown peak.
That combination of on-field production and collector interest makes them two of the most closely watched names in the football card market right now.
Why Gibbs and Robinson are drawing so much attention
Both players delivered big seasons in 2025 and have started this year strongly as well. Gibbs posted 1,223 rushing yards, 77 catches and 616 receiving yards last season for the Detroit Lions. Robinson answered with 1,478 rushing yards and 79 receptions for 820 receiving yards.
Their early 2026 pace has kept the conversation going. Gibbs has 540 total yards and seven touchdowns in four games, while Robinson has 457 yards and three touchdowns in three games.
For fantasy football managers, that kind of production makes them premium assets. For card collectors, it helps explain why their most desirable rookie and low-print cards continue to generate strong bidding.
Jahmyr Gibbs card sales to watch
Gibbs has seen several notable recent sales across premium inserts, autographs and low-numbered cards.
- $4,000 on 28 bids for a 2023 Panini Absolute KABBOM! vertical rookie card graded PSA 10. A PSA 9 copy of the same card sold for $2,804 on 26 bids.
- $2,850 on 29 bids for an ungraded 2025 Topps Chrome Sapphire #1/1 card.
- $2,252 on 65 bids for a 2023 Donruss Optic Downtown! rookie card graded PSA 10. Another example of the same card sold for $2,150 on 23 bids.
- $2,125 on 20 bids for a 2023 Panini Flawless signed dual-patch card numbered to 25 and graded PSA 10.
- $2,025 on 36 bids for a 2025 Panini Absolute KABOOM! Horizontal card graded PSA 10.
- $1,925 on 14 bids for a 2023 Panini Contenders Optic Rookie Ticket #1/1 autographed card.
The Gibbs market has shown particular strength around the kinds of cards collectors tend to chase hardest: one-of-one cards, autographs, premium patch pieces and eye-catching insert designs. The bidding volume on several of these sales suggests broad interest rather than a single isolated buyer.

Bijan Robinson cards continue to bring strong bids
Robinson has also produced a strong run of recent sales, led by a one-of-one autograph and several popular Panini parallels and inserts.
- $3,016 on 35 bids for a 2023 Panini Contenders Optic Rookie Ticket Gold Vinyl card. The #1/1 card was ungraded.
- $2,224 on 37 bids for a 2023 Panini Prizm White Sparkles card graded PSA 10.
- $2,025 on 50 bids for a 2023 Panini Prizm Green Sparkles card numbered to 8 and graded PSA 10.

- $1,600 on 60 bids for an ungraded 2026 Topps Flagship All Kings card.

- $1,400 on 1 bid for a 2023 Panini Absolute Kaboom! Horizontal card graded PSA 10.
Robinson’s results show the same broad appeal seen in Gibbs’ market. His top sales have come from some of the hobby’s most recognizable chase cards, including Prizm color variations, Color Blast, Downtown! and Kaboom! inserts, along with a one-of-one autograph.
What the sales say about the running back market
Running backs have long been one of the hobby’s favorite debate topics, and Gibbs versus Robinson gives collectors a modern version of that conversation. The pair has already established itself as a compelling comparison because both are elite runners, dangerous receivers and central pieces of their offenses.
That versatility matters in the card market. Players who can produce big rushing totals while also contributing heavily in the passing game often hold broader collector appeal, especially when their teams feature them prominently and they continue to deliver on the field.
The recent sales also show that collectors are willing to pay up for premium versions of their cards. PSA 10 examples, low-numbered parallels and one-of-one cards have all drawn strong interest, while insert-driven cards such as Downtown! and Kaboom! continue to perform well.
For now, the market still appears to be developing rather than fully established. But if Gibbs and Robinson keep producing at anything close to last season’s pace, their card values could continue to climb.
The cards collectors are chasing most
Across both players, the strongest recent sales have clustered around a few card types:
- One-of-one autographs and parallels
- Premium insert cards such as Downtown! and Kaboom!
- High-grade PSA 10 copies
- Low-numbered Prizm parallels
- Patch and autograph combinations from high-end products
That pattern suggests collectors are not just chasing rookies for the sake of completion. They are targeting the cards that combine scarcity, visual appeal and star power, which is usually where the strongest prices emerge first.
With both players off to fast starts again, the market will likely keep tracking every big game, every touchdown and every new high-end sale. In a hobby that has always loved a great running back argument, Gibbs and Robinson are giving collectors plenty to debate.
