Fanatics Fest NYC Returns With a Bigger Footprint
Fanatics Fest NYC is set to return to the Javits Convention Center in New York City from July 16-19, bringing a larger, more ambitious version of the sports festival to Manhattan. The four-day event is timed to overlap with one of the biggest moments in global sports, with the closing day coinciding with the FIFA World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium.
As the show enters its third year, Fanatics is positioning the event as more than a traditional memorabilia convention. The company is building a wide-ranging sports and entertainment experience that blends collectibles, live content, athlete appearances, celebrity access and interactive programming across the convention floor.
Fanatics Events CEO Lance Fensterman said the show has continued to evolve based on what worked in previous years, especially the demand for more programming and more activity throughout the venue.
“There’s been an evolution,” Fensterman said. “We learned a few things [from last year]. One of the biggest was that we wanted more content and content everywhere. Last year, we had a couple of stages, and this year we’re expanding to five stages all over the place so there’s always something happening and always content for people to consume.”
More Space, More Programming and a New Fourth Day
Organizers are expanding the show footprint by roughly 20 percent and redesigning the layout to make the experience feel more immersive. The addition of a fourth day, beginning with a Thursday preview, was added because the event had outgrown its previous schedule.
Fensterman said the extra day and expanded floor plan are meant to create more room for experiences and more opportunities for fans to engage with the show.
“We also added a fourth day because we realized we needed more room, both physically and on the calendar, to add more experiences and more content,” he said.
The result is a festival designed to keep fans moving through different areas of the venue while still giving them plenty of places to stop and watch live programming, meet athletes or browse collectibles.
Cards and Collectibles Stay at the Center
The trading card and memorabilia side of Fanatics Fest remains a major part of the event, but the layout is changing to make that section feel more connected to the rest of the show. Fanatics says dealers and hobby brands will run directly through the middle of the venue, with Topps anchored at the center.
That design is intended to make the hobby feel like a core part of the full Fanatics Fest experience rather than a separate corner of the convention.
“The collectibles and trading card section is also evolving,” Fensterman said. “Instead of feeling separated from the rest of the convention, dealers and hobby brands will now run directly through the middle of the venue with Topps anchored at the center so the hobby feels fully integrated into the overall experience.”
Fanatics is also introducing a new initiative called Card Combine, which is designed to help newer collectors learn the hobby in a hands-on way. The company said the goal is to make collecting more approachable for people who may be attending their first major card show.
“The goal is to teach people how to get into collecting in a fun, hands-on way,” Fensterman said. “Dealers friendly to beginners and lower-priced inventory like dollar bins will also be highlighted for newer collectors.”
That emphasis on accessibility comes in response to feedback that the card area has sometimes leaned too heavily toward high-end inventory. Fanatics is aiming to create a better balance by making room for affordable cards and beginner-friendly dealers alongside the premium displays that have become a major draw.
Celebrity Guests and Athlete Access
One of the biggest attractions at Fanatics Fest remains the chance for fans to see major athletes and celebrities up close. This year’s lineup includes John Cena, Kevin Durant, Brett Favre, Joe Montana and Mike Tyson, with many of the featured names scheduled for autograph sessions and panel appearances.
Fanatics has also reworked the venue layout to make those interactions feel more immediate. Fensterman said the company wanted to preserve the sense that fans might unexpectedly cross paths with a major star while walking the floor.
“We redesigned the entire floor plan,” Fensterman said. “Fans loved the proximity to athletes and celebrities last year - the feeling that you could turn around and unexpectedly run into someone famous. We wanted to make that an even bigger part of the show.”
To support that idea, the company created what Fensterman called “talent highways,” controlled routes that run through the convention floor and allow fans to line the ropes while athletes and celebrities move through the venue.
“It’s kind of like a golf tournament setup where people line the ropes while players move through. Fans will still be able to take pictures and selfies from just a few feet away,” he said.
Hometown Village and a Better Autograph Experience
The autograph and photo area on the lower level is also getting a major update. Fanatics is turning that space into Hometown Village, a larger activation area that will feature a visible presence from New York-area sports teams throughout the show.
The company is also trying to improve one of the most common frustrations at any major convention: waiting in line. To make that time more engaging, Fanatics built a podcast stage next to the autograph and photo area so fans can listen to live podcasts and watch content while they wait.
“We also built a podcast stage right next to the autograph and photo area because when people are waiting in line for autographs or photos, they’ll now be able to sit and listen to live podcasts and watch content while they wait,” Fensterman said. “The whole idea is figuring out how to bring more content to more parts of the show and keep people entertained while they’re hanging out.”
That approach reflects the broader direction of the event, which is being designed as a constant stream of activity rather than a static show floor.
Fanatics Games Returns on a Bigger Scale
Another returning feature is Fanatics Games, the live competition series that debuted in 2025 and was won by Tom Brady. The concept pits athletes against regular fans in a series of games and challenges, giving attendees another live event to follow while moving around the show.
Fensterman said the first year was built quickly, but the response made it clear that the idea had staying power.
“We launched it last year almost as a crazy last-minute idea, and it worked. It was really exciting,” he said.
This year, Fanatics is expanding the format significantly. The games have been rebuilt and the viewing experience has been redesigned so fans can watch more comfortably.
“This year we’re expanding it significantly,” Fensterman said. “We rebuilt all of the games and redesigned the viewing experience. Last year, people had to crowd around to see what was happening, but now we’ve built risers at every station so fans can actually sit and watch comfortably. We’re also livestreaming the entire thing, and afterward we’ll cut it into clips people can watch online.”
FIFA Brings a Global Spotlight to the Show
The World Cup connection may be one of the most significant parts of this year’s event. FIFA will have the largest footprint of any league or corporate booth at Fanatics Fest, highlighting the company’s push to reach a broader international audience and build on soccer’s growing popularity in the United States.
FIFA also announced that the pre-match press conference for the World Cup Final, featuring both coaches, will take place at Fanatics Fest on July 17. In addition, FIFA and Fanatics have signed an exclusive collectibles licensing deal that will include trading cards and stickers starting in 2031.
FIFA Chief Event Operations Officer Heimo Schirgi said the partnership is designed to connect sport, culture and entertainment in a way that reaches fans beyond the stadium.
“By combining sport, culture, and entertainment, this partnership reflects our ambition to engage global audiences beyond the pitch and to create memorable experiences that resonate with fans around the world,” Schirgi said.
Fensterman said the international element is becoming more important as the event grows, even though most ticket buyers still come from the New York tri-state area.
“Most ticket buyers are still from the [New York] tri-state area, but we do see it growing into a global sports event over time,” he said. “This year especially, with the FIFA World Cup connection, the international element is getting much bigger.”
Fanatics Fest NYC Stays in New York
Fanatics says the event will remain in New York each June going forward rather than expanding to multiple U.S. cities. The company sees the city as the right home for the festival as it continues to grow into a larger sports and entertainment destination.
With expanded content stages, a redesigned collectibles area, more celebrity access, a larger Fanatics Games setup and a major FIFA presence, Fanatics Fest NYC is being built as a multi-day experience that blends the hobby with live sports culture in a way few events attempt.
The combination of cards, athletes, entertainment and global soccer gives this year’s show one of its most diverse lineups yet, with the Javits Convention Center serving as the hub for it all.
