Emma Roberts Brings Her Hobby Love to Fanatics Live
Emma Roberts is turning a long-running interest in trading cards into a new venture. During her October 28 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actress announced that she and her husband are launching Summer Breaks, a trading-card breaking channel on Fanatics Live, beginning November 4.
Roberts told Jimmy Kimmel that the channel is designed to give viewers a chance to join in on the hobby experience.
"My husband and I are starting a channel on Fanatics Live called Summer Breaks," Roberts said. "You can hang out with us, you can break with us, you can win prizes."
The announcement came with a live card-opening segment on the late-night show, giving the hobby a prime-time spotlight and showing how closely Roberts has tied her public persona to collecting.
What Summer Breaks Will Offer
Summer Breaks will operate seven days a week, with Roberts expected to appear up to five times a month, especially around major releases. According to the announcement, the channel will feature both sports and entertainment cards.
Roberts also said celebrity friends may occasionally join the breaks, adding another layer to the channel’s format. The setup places Summer Breaks among the growing number of personality-driven channels on Fanatics Live, where collectors can follow familiar names while chasing cards from new releases and vintage products alike.
The channel’s launch date of November 4 gives collectors a clear starting point for the new project, which arrives as Roberts continues to become one of the more visible celebrity collectors in the hobby.
Roberts Has Built Real Hobby Credibility
Roberts is best known for her acting work in American Horror Story, Scream Queens, We’re the Millers, and Scream 4, but her presence in the card world has grown steadily. She has regularly shared collecting moments on social media and has appeared at hobby events, making her a familiar face to many collectors.

Her hobby profile rose further in January 2025 when she pulled a one-of-one Jackson Holliday Topps Chrome card, which she described as her most coveted one-of-one. That moment drew attention across the hobby because it showed Roberts was not just casually opening packs, but actively chasing major cards.
Later in 2025, she joined young collectors at Fanatics Fest and opened 2018 Topps Archives baseball cards, where one of the kids pulled a Shohei Ohtani rookie. She also appeared in a Topps commercial promoting the Bowman Red Rookie Redemption program, sharing screen time with Lorraine Bracco, who reprised her Dr. Jennifer Melfi character from The Sopranos.
Roberts has also taken part in Fanatics Live breaks before, including a Super Bowl red-carpet event in 2025. She even opened cards with guests during her wedding weekend, another sign that collecting has become part of her public identity rather than just a private hobby.
The Tom Brady Chase That Caught Her Attention
During her conversation with Kimmel, Roberts talked about a card she and her husband are still hoping to find: a 2023 Bowman Draft Tom Brady autograph numbered 12/50. The card features the inscription, "If baseball doesn't work out, there's always football."
The card had still not been pulled when Sports Illustrated Collectibles covered Brady’s five favorite cards earlier this year, and Brady himself has expressed interest in acquiring it. Roberts said she and her husband have not landed that specific card yet, but they do own another Brady autograph that was signed for them by the seven-time Super Bowl champion at this year’s Super Bowl.
That detail fits neatly with the way Roberts has approached the hobby so far. Her collecting interests stretch from modern chase cards to vintage baseball and high-profile autographs, with a clear appreciation for both the card itself and the story behind it.
Why She Wants to Choose Card Photos
Roberts also shared an unexpected hobby dream during the interview. She said she would love to help choose the photographs used on trading cards.
"I just think it'd be so fun, and some people, I feel, like need better photos on the card," she told Kimmel.
It was a lighthearted comment, but it also reflected a collector’s eye for presentation. For many hobbyists, the image on a card matters almost as much as the player, and Roberts seemed to speak from the perspective of someone who has spent enough time looking at cards to notice the details.
A Vintage Rip on Jimmy Kimmel Live
To celebrate the Summer Breaks announcement, Roberts and Kimmel opened packs of 1986 Fleer baseball cards. The break leaned into nostalgia, with the pair hoping to find names such as Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Gary Carter, and Keith Hernandez.
The segment mixed baseball trivia with the familiar unpredictability of vintage wax. At one point, Kimmel dismissed a card as worthless, but Roberts asked to keep it because her husband is a San Francisco Giants fan. Kimmel responded by noting that collecting is not always about resale value.
"It's not always about getting a card that's worth something," Kimmel said. "Sometimes things have sentimental value."
As the break continued, the pair pulled cards of Ozzie Smith, Gary Carter, and Lee Smith before Kimmel finally hit one of the original targets, Darryl Strawberry. The moment gave the segment a satisfying finish while also underscoring the appeal of vintage card breaks, where the fun often comes from the anticipation as much as the result.
Summer Breaks Joins a Growing Fanatics Live Lineup
Summer Breaks enters a Fanatics Live ecosystem that already includes nearly 100 active shops. The platform has also attracted celebrity-associated channels, including Tom Brady’s CardVault Breaks and New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns’ Big Bodegas Breaks.
Roberts’ channel adds another recognizable name to that mix, but her involvement appears to come from genuine hobby enthusiasm rather than a passing celebrity endorsement. She has already shown a willingness to open packs, chase rare cards, and participate in hobby events, which gives the new channel a built-in connection to collectors who follow her card-related appearances.
With a weekly schedule, a mix of sports and entertainment products, and the possibility of guest appearances, Summer Breaks is positioned as a hobby channel with a celebrity face and a collector’s sensibility. Roberts’ appearance with Kimmel offered a preview of the tone she seems to enjoy most: casual, social, and centered on the experience of opening cards together.
For collectors who have followed her hobby journey, the launch of Summer Breaks is the latest sign that Emma Roberts is not just visiting the trading-card world. She is building a place in it.
