2026 Topps Finest Baseball Brings a New Tiered Format

Topps is changing the configuration for 2026 Topps Finest Baseball, but the familiar tiered structure remains in place. For the third straight year, the set uses common, uncommon, and rare base levels. The big update for 2026 is the addition of a hobby-exclusive super rare tier, along with a new mega box format.

Hobby boxes will include two autographs. Topps also announced Finest Baseball mega boxes for the first time, and those boxes will feature exclusive Mini Diamond Refractors. A First Day Issue Dutch auction is scheduled for June 3 on Topps.com, with the pre-order window set for June 8.

The product is built around a 350-card base checklist split into four tiers. Topps has said the super rare tier will include 50 cards, while the common, uncommon, and rare tiers each contain 100 cards. Print runs for non-serial-numbered cards have not been announced.

2026 Topps Finest Baseball Base Set Design

This year’s Finest design leans heavily into color and artistic styling. The player name sits in the bottom right corner on a shadowed nameplate with a font style tied to the 1990s look that has long been associated with Finest.

Each base tier uses a different paint smear treatment behind the player image. Common cards feature a vertical smear that begins in the middle of the card and runs off the top. Uncommon cards use a diagonal smear from the upper left to the lower right. Rare cards show a smear that starts in the upper right corner, creating the look of a brushstroke entering from off-card.

The super rare tier is numbered to /10 or fewer and includes two images of the player.
