Upper Deck Marks Space Jam's 30th Anniversary
Space Jam arrived in November 1996 with Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes, and the film has remained a favorite for collectors and fans ever since. To mark the 30th anniversary, Upper Deck is bringing the property back to the hobby with 2026 SkyBox Metal Universe Space Jam 30th Anniversary, a tribute set built around the movie's most recognizable characters and moments.
The product is designed as a SkyBox Metal Universe release with a mix of base cards, inserts, parallels, and autographs. According to the information released so far, collectors can expect three numbered cards in every hobby box along with more than two dozen insert cards.
2026 SkyBox Metal Universe Space Jam Base Set
The checklist begins with a 50-card base set that highlights the leading characters from the film, including players from the Tune Squad and the Monstars. Michael Jordan is included in the overall tribute concept, and the set is built to capture the look and feel collectors expect from the Metal Universe brand.
Base card parallels announced for the set include Logo Variations, Purple FX as a Blaster exclusive, Pink FX numbered to 75, and Orange FX numbered to 25. Those parallels give collectors multiple chase levels across the hobby and retail formats.
Autographs And Case Hits
Upper Deck says every hobby case should include one autographed card. The autograph content may feature Michael Jordan, including cards from sets such as Autographics. No full autograph checklist has been released yet, but the company has confirmed that signed cards are part of the product's top-end chase.
Several of the set's most desirable cards are positioned at the case level. Those include Platinum Portrait, Jambalaya, Gold Universe, All-Galactic Team, Metal Universe Retro, and Michael Jordan Halfcourt Dunk, a tribute to a classic scene from the film.
The Metal Universe Retro cards also have Precious Metal Gems parallels, with Red numbered to 100, Green numbered to 10, and Gold numbered 1 of 1.
Insert Cards Drive The Product
Inserts are the main focus of 2026 SkyBox Metal Universe Space Jam 30th Anniversary. Upper Deck says every six-card hobby pack will contain three inserts, making the insert lineup the core of the product's collecting experience.
The first group of inserts includes Big Ups, Cinematic, Monstars, and Ready to Jam. Two of those inserts are expected in every hobby pack, giving collectors a steady stream of film-themed content throughout a box.
Beyond the common insert themes, the checklist also includes Z-Force, Trophy Case, and Magnetic Field. Those cards combine to fall four times per box, adding another layer of chase for hobby collectors.
Also landing a combined four per box are Superalloy, SkyBox Premium, and E-X inserts. Collectors can also look for SkyBox Premium parallels such as Star Sapphire, Star Rubies, Star Emerald, and Star Diamond, along with E-X Credentials Now and Credentials Future parallels.
With so many insert families spread across the checklist, the product leans heavily into the classic SkyBox style that has long made Metal Universe releases popular with collectors.
Hobby And Blaster Box Breakdown
Upper Deck has shared the current box and pack configuration for both hobby and blaster formats. The product is listed with six cards per hobby pack and four cards per blaster pack. Hobby boxes contain 12 packs, while blaster boxes contain six packs. A hobby case includes 12 boxes, and a blaster case includes 20 boxes.
The release date is still listed as TBA, and all information remains subject to change before the product reaches the market.
