2023 Upper Deck Marvel Platinum adds another chromium comic cards line. Similar to O-Pee-Chee Platinum Hockey, also from Upper Deck, there are plenty of parallels to chase. Understandably, there’s a Marvel twist, though, with the overall approach and insert themes.
The base set is a 200-card affair, half of which uses original artwork. Parallels take on a variety of colors and patterns. These start with Refractor-esque Rainbow versions, which are one per hobby pack. Among the other rarer ones are Purple Pixel (/35), hobby-only Orange Checkers (/33), Cosmic (/25), Seismic Gold (/10) and Golden Treasures (1/1).
Creator Art Variants draw from a roster of 10 famed artists like Mike Allred, Ron Lim and Bill Sienkiewicz. Like the base set, there are numerous parallels for these as well as autographed versions.
One-per-pack Variant Cover cards take the base set and make them look like comic covers.
Marvel Greats Sketch Cards continue with the big-name creator theme. Sienkiewicz is among the contributors here, offering collectors card-sized pieces of original artwork.
Other inserts include Iconic Covers, Platinum Duos and Super Statistics.
