In a significant announcement that is set to thrill sports fans and collectors around the globe, Topps—a division of Fanatics Collectibles—has entered into an exclusive, long-term global trading card agreement with two-time MVP Shohei Ohtani. Effective immediately, this partnership promises to deliver an array of unique collectibles, including autographed cards, game-used memorabilia, and cards that highlight the most memorable moments and achievements of Ohtani's extraordinary career.

The agreement spans both the United States and Japan, reflecting the surging popularity of trading cards in both markets. By introducing products tailored for Japanese collectors, Topps aims to deepen its connection with fans in Ohtani's home country and expand its international footprint.

"I'm pleased to be partnering exclusively with Topps to provide fans with unique cards and collectibles for the upcoming seasons," said Ohtani. The Los Angeles Angels' superstar joins a distinguished group of Japanese players associated with Topps, including Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Ichiro Suzuki, and Hideki Matsui.

David Leiner, President of Trading Cards at Fanatics Collectibles, expressed his excitement about the collaboration. "This is a monumental day in the history of our brand," he remarked. "We're not just partners with Shohei—we're passionate fans of everything he's accomplished on the field and how he embodies the spirit of the game off the field."

Leiner emphasized that the exclusive deal would enable Topps to introduce innovative offerings featuring Ohtani. "With this new, exclusive agreement, Topps will continue to be inventive in our products with him, providing collectors with items that have never been seen before in the hobby, all while bringing them closer to this exceptional player," he added.

This partnership builds upon Topps' previous non-exclusive relationship with Ohtani, which began in January 2018. The new exclusive agreement signifies a deeper commitment to showcasing Ohtani's talents and offering fans unparalleled access to exclusive memorabilia.

The announcement follows Fanatics Collectibles' long-term exclusive trading card deal with NBA legend LeBron James earlier this year. Adding Ohtani to their roster underscores Fanatics' strategy of collaborating with some of the most influential athletes to deliver unique and highly sought-after collectibles.

Expanding International Reach

By incorporating Japan-based products, Topps acknowledges the significant growth of the trading card market in Japan. The company aims to engage directly with Japanese fans, offering region-specific collectibles that resonate with Ohtani's supporters in his native country.

A Treasure Trove for Collectors

Collectors can look forward to a diverse range of new offerings resulting from this exclusive deal. From limited-edition autographed cards to memorabilia featuring game-used equipment, the partnership is set to deliver items that will become centerpiece additions to any collection.

About Shohei Ohtani

Shohei Ohtani has taken the baseball world by storm with his exceptional abilities as both a pitcher and a hitter, earning him two MVP awards and international acclaim. His unique skill set and sportsmanship have made him a global ambassador for the sport.

Looking Ahead

The exclusive partnership between Topps and Shohei Ohtani is poised to transform the trading card industry. Fans and collectors can anticipate innovative products that celebrate Ohtani's remarkable contributions to baseball.
