The 1992 Dream Team is arguably considered one of the best basketball teams ever assembled, featuring a plethora of hall of famers, all of the best the NBA had to offer other than Isiah Thomas from the Detroit Pistons, who should have definitely had a roster spot on this assembled team, but Michael Jordan famously said he would not play if Isiah was on the team due to the bad blood between the Chicago Bulls and Detroit pistons in the late 80's and early 90's. The Dream Team went undefeated during the tournament, playing a total of 6 games with point leads of a minimum of 38, boasting all the way up to a 79 point lead. The United States made a joke out of the rest of the world when it came to basketball in the 90's and the whole team rotated frequently to just put a pounding on all of its opponents. Charles Barkley led the team with a total of 98 points, with an average of 16.3 points over the tournament.

The Line Up:

Coach: Chuck Daly
Assistant Coach: P.J. Carlesimo
Assistant Coach: Mike Krzyzewski
Assistant Coach: Lenny Wilkens

PF: Christian Laettner - Duke Blue Devils
PF: Karl Malone - Utah Jazz
PF: Charles Barkley - Phoenix Suns
C: David Robinson - San Antonio Spurs
C: Patrick Ewing - New York Nicks
SF: Larry Bird - Boston Celtics
SF: Scottie Pippen - Chicago Bulls
SF: Chris Mullin - Golden State Warriors
SG: Michael Jordan - Chicago Bulls
SG: Clyde Drexler - Portland Trailblazers
PG: John Stockton - Utah Jazz
PG: Magic Johnson - Los Angeles Lakers

As you can see the insane line up, I believe every one of these players are now in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, including Christian Laettner who was inducted due to his role on the Dream Team. While none of the cards carry a hefty value, they are still a must have in any collection for nostalgia purposes.

The 1991-92 McDonalds NBA Hoops Dream Team 12 card Set can be purchased for just around $10-20. Not every player on the Dream Team is featured in the set however. The cards were distributed as 4-card packs (3 NBA and 1 USA Olympics) at participating McDonald's restaurants with the purchase of an Extra Value Meal (or 49 cents with any other purchase). Cards have a similar design to 1991-92 Hoops with slight differences. While #63-70 were only available in the Chicago area.

There is also the 1991-92 NBA Hoops Dream Team Gold Cover Card, which is the rarest card of the bunch, and only a population of 24 with the coveted PSA 10 Gem Mint grade. The last sale was $511.00, with only one other currently on the auction block, and one other with an asking price of $1200. - Check eBay

There is also the 1992-93 SkyBox Subset, which was a total of 17 cards, and each and every player on the team including the coaches have a card. The only one missing is again Christian Laettner due to the fact he was not yet in the NBA while still with Duke, and Skybox did not retain the rights to produce cards of college players at the time. He did however go on to be drafted #3 overall pick for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
