The price is a record for any game-worn item and the second highest priced piece of sports memorabilia ever sold, behind only the recent $12.6 million sale of a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card graded SGC 9.5.
One of two Michael Jordan’s Finals jerseys to ever appear go up for sale via auction, ending with a total of 20 bids, bouncing the final sale price to more than double of the original $5 million sale estimate.
The jersey dorms an NBA Finals patch and was worn during the most celebrated season of Michael Jordan’s outstanding career. “The Last Dance” documentary put worldwide attention back on the 1998 season that ear marked the forced ending of a remarkable NBA dynasty thanks in most part to Michael Jordan, who also attained MVP honors in what became the Bulls’ sixth and last NBA championship.
The MeiGrey Group was tasked with authenticating this jersey, and cites several photo matches of him playing in the jersey in Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz.
