In a landmark move for sports memorabilia, Panini America, the titan of sports and entertainment collectibles, has teamed up with the Professional Fighters League (PFL), known for its rapid growth and innovative approach to mixed martial arts. This collaboration marks a significant expansion in the sports trading card market, specifically within the MMA category.

The partnership will kick off with an exciting product rollout starting with Panini Instant, a direct-to-consumer platform that delivers trading cards in real-time, allowing fans to capture the thrill of MMA fights shortly after they happen. This will be followed by the highly anticipated launch of PFL Prizm later this year, promising to offer collectors a fresh and vibrant series of trading cards.

Jason Howarth, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Athlete Relations at Panini America, expressed his enthusiasm about joining forces with the PFL. He highlighted the league's impressive growth and its ability to captivate fight enthusiasts globally. Through this partnership, Panini aims to invigorate the MMA trading card niche with new products that resonate with hardcore fans and collectors alike.

PFL's Chief Commercial Officer, Bryan Calka, also shared his excitement about partnering with Panini, a recognized leader in the collectibles industry. He emphasized the alignment of both organizations in their commitment to offering premium and high-value experiences to MMA fans worldwide. This partnership is poised to enhance the way fans interact with the sport, providing them with unique collectibles that celebrate their favorite athletes and moments.

Adding a modern twist to their traditional offerings, Panini and the PFL will also venture into the digital realm by introducing a series of NFT-based digital trading cards. This initiative caters to the growing demand for digital collectibles and represents a forward-thinking approach to sports memorabilia.

The announcement comes as the PFL prepares to launch the second half of its 2024 Global Season, starting June 13 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. The season features intense competitions across various locations, including Salt Lake City and South Dakota, where fighters across six weight classes will battle for spots in the 2024 PFL Global Playoffs and the coveted title of PFL World Champion, along with a $1 million prize.

The PFL is unique in the MMA industry for its structured sports-season format, which includes a regular season, playoffs, and championship, mirroring the organizational style of major league sports. This structure, combined with PFL’s commitment to technology and innovation like the PFL SmartCage, enhances the viewer experience with real-time betting and fight analytics.

Panini America, part of the globally recognized Panini Group based in Modena, Italy, brings over 60 years of expertise to this partnership. The company is a powerhouse in the collectibles industry with a significant presence across more than 150 countries, ensuring that PFL trading cards will be available to a global audience.

This pioneering partnership between Panini America and the Professional Fighters League is set to transform the sports memorabilia landscape, offering MMA fans and collectors an innovative and engaging way to connect with the sport through a new series of trading cards.
