The recent Goldin Elite Auction saw impressive bids for modern sports cards and memorabilia, with several items surpassing six figures. Leading the charge was a PSA 8 1984-85 Star Company Michael Jordan card, which set a record for the grade by selling for $244,000.

The sale of this Jordan rookie card follows another notable auction just days earlier, where a PSA 7 version sold on eBay for $62,000, while a PSA 6.5 was also sold by Goldin for $52,460. The market for Jordan’s first NBA-licensed card continues to show incredible strength.

Baseball cards also saw substantial interest, with a 1-of-1 2009 Bowman Sterling Red Refractor Autograph card of Mike Trout (PSA 9) fetching $192,030, despite Trout's ongoing injury issues.

Two Bowman Chrome Red Refractor parallels of baseball stars also set new records. A 2011 Bryce Harper #5/5 PSA 9 sold for $184,720, and a 2014 Mookie Betts #3/5 PSA 10 went for $123,220, underscoring the continued interest in pre-rookie and early-career cards of active players.

In the 1-of-1 SuperFractor category, a 2024 Topps Chrome Autographed SuperFractor Elly De La Cruz PSA 10 sold for $116,534, and a Jackson Holliday SuperFractor PSA 10 earned $68,527. Both set record prices for public sales of these players.

An exciting international highlight was the 2023-24 Topps UEFA Ronaldo/Messi dual auto SuperFractor, which was pulled by a breaker in England and consigned to Goldin during the London Card Show. Graded PSA 9, the card sold for $67,100.

On the memorabilia front, Travis Kelce’s Super Bowl LV jersey from the Kansas City Chiefs’ 31-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was the top item, selling for $52,460. Kelce’s AFC Championship ring from that same season also sold for $34,404.

Other key memorabilia sales included an Aaron Judge 2017 rookie season jersey, matched to one of his 52 record-breaking home runs, which brought in $51,240.

Additional notable sales from the auction included:

  • 2017 National Treasures Patrick Mahomes RPA #77/99: $95,770
  • 2018 Bowman Orange Refractor Shohei Ohtani #22/75 PSA 9: $74,450
  • 1996 Mariano Rivera game-used jersey, photo-matched to eight trading cards: $51,240
  • 1969 Topps Football Series 1 wax box: $32,940
  • 1969 Topps Football Series 2 wax box: $31,721
Goldin’s Elite Auction closed out August with a bang, cementing its place as a go-to for record-breaking sales of both vintage and modern sports cards and memorabilia.
