Set to be released on June 12, the 2024 Topps Series 2 will add another 350 base cards to the first 350 from Series 1, expanding the collection to include more players, rookies, and some notable names missing from Series 1 like Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The new series remains faithful to the established formula of parallels, short prints, and super short prints from Series 1, while also introducing new inserts that continue to build on earlier successes. Among these new features are a short-printed set celebrating Ronald Acuna’s notable 40/70 campaign from the previous year and special All-Star cards from the 1989 Topps Set, commemorating the 35th anniversary of Topps' final release of the 1980s.

Juan Soto is the cover star for Series 2, which offers two types of Hobby boxes: traditional boxes containing 20 packs of 12 cards each, and Jumbo boxes consisting of ten packs of 40 cards each. Both box types include a guaranteed autograph or relic card along with silver bonus packs that feature chrome cards, numbered autographs, and parallels.

The 350-card base set in Series 2 features a wide range of content, including veterans, rookies, Future Stars, League Leaders, and Team Cards, adorned with various types of parallels:

  • Gold Foil Parallel – Exclusive to Jumbo packs, inserted 1:2 packs.
  • Rainbow Foil Parallel – Inserted 1:10 packs.
  • Gold Parallel – Numbered to 2024.
  • Blue Holofoil Board Parallel – Numbered to 999.
  • Additional parallels include Purple Holofoil, Green Crackle Foil, and more rare variations like the Vintage Stock Parallel, Independence Day Parallel, and Black Parallel exclusive to Hobby/Jumbo packs.
New and returning inserts are a major part of Series 2. These include six new insert themes like the 40/70 insert commemorating Ronald Acuna’s MVP season, which is short-printed and exclusive to Hobby boxes. Other new inserts like City to City, Around the Horn, and Covering the Field are introduced with multiple parallels ranging from Blue to Platinum, and even Autograph Parallels for selected subjects. The celebrated 1989 Topps Baseball design features again, this time with new All-Star inserts that include game’s best players and pay homage to the 1989 release.

Other notable insert sets returning from Series 1 include Heavy Lumber, Social Media Follow Back redemption cards, Homefield Advantage, and hand-drawn Sketch cards exclusive to Hobby products. A new highly sought-after insert, Platinum Performers, is introduced as a super short print.

Relic cards and autographs continue to be a highlight, with offerings like Baseball Stars Autographs and the new 1989 Topps Baseball Autograph Cards, which include dual and triple autographs and one-of-one Platinum Parallels. The relic section includes Game-used swatches from City Connect jerseys and Major League Material cards, with parallels extending to Platinum.

In summary, the 2024 Topps Series 2 enriches the baseball card collecting experience by maintaining beloved elements from Series 1 while introducing new and rare inserts, autographs, and relic cards that appeal to both seasoned collectors and new enthusiasts.Screenshot 2024-05-24 115305.pngScreenshot 2024-05-24 115503.pngScreenshot 2024-05-24 115444.pngScreenshot 2024-05-24 115432.pngScreenshot 2024-05-24 115423.pngScreenshot 2024-05-24 115414.pngScreenshot 2024-05-24 115405.pngScreenshot 2024-05-24 115353.pngScreenshot 2024-05-24 115342.pngScreenshot 2024-05-24 115330.pngScreenshot 2024-05-24 115318.png
